New Patient Information System Enhances Care
To remain at the cutting edge of medical technology and offer the highest quality patient care, Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center is in its second phase of implementing the new MediTech comprehensive patient information system throughout the organization.
With MediTech, all aspects of the hospital’s services are connected electronically. From the moment a patient is registered, through their treatment and eventual discharge and billing, MediTech’s totally integrated patient medical record information system handles everything.
The system enhances quality of care throughout the hospital by expediting patient services. It manages all physician orders, service requisitions, medication dispensing, test result reporting and clinical charting.
The benefits of this unified information system include reduced time delays with patient care and treatment, no transcription errors and no misfiled reports or documents.
MediTech also allows physicians the ability to access their hospital patient’s records off-site, therefore improving patient information management and allowing physicians to be better prepared for daily patient rounds.
Additionally, MediTech supports physicians and other clinicians by making both current and past relevant patient medical information, including radiographic images, immediately accessible for review at the patient’s bedside, in ancillary areas of the hospital, or remotely by personal computer. With this information at hand, doctors can call in orders for additional tests, change medications, or possibly discharge the patient.
The next phase of the project will encompass the linking of MediTech into the Intensive Care and Cardiac Care Units. This technology will provide instant information to help physicians monitor the hospital’s most critically ill patients.
